Message from UTT Rector

Welcome to the University of Transport Technology (UTT) – the institution that embodies 80 years of tradition in “Pioneering the Way” and the aspiration to generate knowledge in service of the nation’s sustainable development.

Originally established in 1945 as the Public Works College (Trường Cao đẳng Công Chính), UTT has undergone a proud journey closely associated with the formation and advancement of Vietnam’s transport sector. Throughout the years of war and peace, generations of faculty members and students have remained resilient and innovative, laying the foundations for numerous critical transportation projects and making significant contributions to national development. Today, as a key institution under the Ministry of Construction, UTT is oriented toward becoming a leading application- and practice-based university, focusing on high-quality human-resource training, scientific research, and technological transfer in transport engineering, smart infrastructure, and digital technologies.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Long, Rector

The University currently operates three campuses in Hanoi, Phu Tho, and Thai Nguyen, with a modern educational infrastructure that includes more than 300 lecture rooms, 109 laboratories, a highway laboratory center, and the Digital Transformation Research Center – the pioneering unit in applying WiFi Edge Computing in transportation in Vietnam. With an enrollment scale of over 22,000 learners and students, and with more than 40% of the academic staff holding doctoral degrees, the University possesses a strong foundation for enhancing training quality and international integration capacity.

In the past five years, UTT has achieved remarkable accomplishments: nearly 700 international publications (ISI, Scopus); the Journal of Science & Technology in Transport (English edition – JSTT) being indexed in Scopus only three years after its establishment; numerous national-level and NAFOSTED research projects; and scientific cooperation with the United Nations, the European Commission, Japan, Korea, France, Germany, and India.

The University is ranked 26th out of 45 top universities in Vietnam by SCImago, 35th out of 187 by Webometrics, and has three scientists listed among the world’s top 10,000 and 100,000 most influential researchers, according to Stanford University. With these outstanding achievements, the University of Transport Technology has been awarded the title “Hero of Labor during the Renovation Period,” two First-Class Independence Orders, and various prestigious distinctions from the Party, the State, and the Government of Laos.

Looking toward its vision for 2045 to become a smart university and a leading center for research, technology transfer, and international cooperation in transport engineering, UTT steadfastly upholds its five core values: Solidarity – Intelligence – Innovation – Integration – Sustainable Development. UTT warmly welcomes learners, experts, scientists, enterprises, and partners to collaborate, conduct research, and create new values for the community. We sincerely appreciate your support and trust throughout the University’s 80-year journey and in the years ahead.

Respectfully,

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Long
