UTT Launches the Network of Centers for Excellence and Talent Development in Advanced, Intelligent Transportation Technology and Infrastructure
On 10 October 2025, the University of Transport Technology (UTT) solemnly held the Launching Ceremony of the Network of Centers for Excellence and Talent Development in the field of Advanced, Intelligent Transportation Technology and Infrastructure. Deputy Minister of Construction Phạm Minh Hà attended and delivered a directive speech.
The Network of Centers for Excellence and Talent Development in Advanced, Intelligent Transportation Technology and Infrastructure, led by UTT, is one of the 13 national Networks of Centers for Excellence and Talent Development approved by the Prime Minister. This is a key network in the field of intelligent transportation technology and smart infrastructure—an essential pillar in the process of modernizing national infrastructure and fostering smart urban development in Việt Nam.
Earlier, on 1 August 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training designated UTT as the coordinating institution for one of the 13 national Networks of Centers for Excellence and Talent Development in 4.0 technology. In addition to its leading role, UTT also participates in other excellence networks in fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Semiconductor Industry, Advanced Materials, and Construction Technology, in collaboration with top universities including Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Hanoi University of Civil Engineering.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Phạm Minh Hà commended the Ministry of Education and Training’s decision to assign UTT the coordinating role. He affirmed that this is a strategic mission demonstrating the university’s prestige, capacity, and influence within Việt Nam’s higher education system; and that it also contributes to the successful implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science–technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, as well as Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training.

In his remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Long – Rector of UTT, expressed sincere gratitude to the Government, the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Education and Training, and relevant agencies for their guidance and support for the university’s education and training mission. Notably, UTT has recently been entrusted by the Ministry of Construction to prepare the investment proposal for the 15-storey Innovation Building, the Smart Transportation Research Center, student dormitories, and expert residences, with a total investment of over VND 1,000 billion. This provides an essential foundation for the university to effectively fulfill its coordinating role in the coming period.
Rector Nguyễn Hoàng Long affirmed that UTT will serve as a key driver, proactively connecting and accompanying member institutions to build an open, innovative, and collaborative network, contributing to accelerating digital transformation, developing high-quality human resources, and creating breakthroughs in research and innovation in the transportation and construction infrastructure sectors.

The Network coordinated by UTT brings together 28 institutions, including 12 universities, 5 research institutes, and 11 enterprises, organized into three major ecosystems (High-Speed Rail & Urban Rail; Smart Infrastructure & Smart Cities; Intelligent Transportation Systems–ITS). The Network focuses on seven strategic areas of training and research: AI, BIM, Digital Twin, smart planning & logistics, high-speed railway, robotics & automation, sustainable materials, and renewable energy.

Information on the Network of Centers for Excellence and Talent Development in Advanced, Intelligent Transportation Technology and Infrastructure
For the 2025–2030 period, the Network targets annual training of ≥ 500 master’s students, 70 PhD candidates, 20 young professors/associate professors, and ≥ 100 talented undergraduates; developing 05 elite training programs; creating national-level prestigious scholarships for students and young researchers; strengthening scientific research with ≥ 1,000 ISI/Scopus publications, 20 patents, and 10 utility solutions; forming 05 strong research groups, including 02 at international level; and expanding cooperation with over 30 international partners, attracting foreign experts and scientists for research and technology transfer in advanced fields such as AI, BIM, Hydrogen, Digital Twin, and IoT.
