OBJECTIVES

1

Supporting Scaling-up Efforts to Promote Electric 2- and 3-Wheelers in Vietnam

UN 2021-1 Vu Ngoc Khiem 2021–2022

United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)

The project aims to support the scaling-up and promotion of electric two- and three-wheelers in Vietnam through policy support, pilot implementation, and capacity building. The project contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, improvement of air quality, and the transition towards a more sustainable urban transport system.

2

Study for the Development of Electric Two-Wheelers in Hanoi

UN 2021-2 Phi Luong Van 2021

Agence Française de Développement (AFD)

The project aims to study the conditions enabling complementarity between transport modes in Hanoi, with a particular focus on integrating electric two-wheelers with public transport systems. Based on a review of the regulatory framework in Vietnam and Hanoi and benchmarking policies favorable to electric vehicles in Europe and Asia, the project proposes regulatory solutions and policy recommendations to create priority mechanisms for two-wheelers. In addition, the project develops a pilot proposal for a defined area, evaluates electric vehicle models and battery technologies available on the market, and provides recommendations to minimize environmental impacts and support sustainable urban mobility development in Hanoi.

3

Research on the Application of Textile Reinforced Concrete (TRC) for Strengthening / Repairing Reinforced Concrete Columns and Piers in Transport Infrastructure in Vietnam

DT214011 Nguyen Thuy Anh Jan 2021 – Sep 2022

Ministry of Transport

The objective of the project is to evaluate the suitability of TRC component materials for repairing and strengthening reinforced concrete columns and piers through mechanical properties and composite action between material components. The research aims to quantify the axial compressive capacity of reinforced concrete columns and piers strengthened with TRC.
4

Research on Predicting the Load-Bearing Capacity of Bored Piles for Construction Using Artificial Intelligence and Optimization Techniques

DT214012 Pham Thai Binh Jan 2021 – Jun 2022 Ministry of Transport The project aims to develop prediction models for the axial load-bearing capacity of bored piles used in construction through artificial intelligence and optimization techniques. The study includes building an initial database of pile load test results, developing machine learning algorithms combined with optimization methods, and proposing draft procedures for applying AI techniques in predicting pile bearing capacity based on static load test results.
5

Research on Solutions for Developing Logistics Infrastructure to Enhance Connectivity among Central Provinces

DT214030 Tran The Tuan Jan 2021 – Jun 2022 Ministry of Transport The project aims to develop coordination mechanisms among Central Vietnam provinces in exploiting and developing logistics infrastructure; identify strengths and development priorities of each locality; assess constraints and facilitating factors affecting logistics infrastructure development; and propose feasible solutions for state management agencies at both central and local levels to improve logistics infrastructure connectivity and promote regional economic growth.
6

Research on Proposing Solutions for Manufacturing Self-Healing Concrete Using Microbial Technology for Application in Transport Infrastructure

DT214035 Tran Van Quan Jan 2021 – Jun 2022 Ministry of Transport The project develops technological procedures for designing and manufacturing self-healing concrete suitable for Vietnam’s climatic and operational conditions, conducts validation experiments, publishes scientific articles, and produces a final project report.
7

Research on Emission Reduction Solutions for In-Use Vehicles in Compliance with Decision No. 16/2019/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister

DT214043 Vu Ngoc Khiem Jan 2021 – Jun 2022

Ministry of Transport

The project develops calculation procedures and installation processes for emission control devices for diesel vehicles in Vietnam; proposes emission reduction solutions for in-use vehicles in compliance with Decision No. 16/2019/QD-TTg; conducts validation experiments; publishes scientific articles; and produces a final project report.
