UTT holds working session with Prof. Lee Young Hoon (Korea National University of Transportation)
On September 7, 2026, the University of Transport Technology (UTT) received and held a working session with Prof. Lee Young Hoon of the Korea National University of Transportation (KNUT), on the occasion of the Professor commencing his program of work, teaching, and research at UTT during the 2026–2027 academic year.
The session was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Ngoc Khiem — Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Standing Vice-Rector of the University. In attendance were representatives of the leadership of the Department of Personnel and Organization; the Institute of Training and International Cooperation; the Faculty of Information Technology; the Institute of Railway and Urban Transport Technology; members of the Research Group on Railway Signaling and Information Systems; and relevant staff and lecturers.
At the session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Ngoc Khiem welcomed Prof. Lee Young Hoon to UTT and, at the same time, shared the University's development orientation in the field of railways. Amid Vietnam's strong push to develop high-speed and urban railways, UTT has identified the enhancement of its training capacity, scientific research, and the preparation of high-quality human resources for this field as one of its key priorities.

Prof. Lee Young Hoon is an expert with many years of experience in the railway field, including nearly 26 years of work and research at the Korea Railroad Research Institute (KRRI), where he held the position of Principal Researcher. His areas of expertise focus on railway engineering, systems engineering, railway engineering systems, and railway signaling and information systems.
During the program, Prof. Lee Young Hoon shared his career path, research experience, and areas of expertise; he also discussed with representatives of UTT's units the University's needs in training, scientific research, and program development, as well as the potential to carry out professional activities during his time at the University.

According to the plan, from September 2026 to January 2027, Prof. Lee Young Hoon will take part in teaching and delivering specialized modules for students; share experience and provide professional development for the lecturing staff; collaborate on reviewing and developing training programs; and engage in scientific research and academic exchange with UTT's research groups. The two sides also aim to establish research directions and propose professional cooperation that can be further developed in the time ahead.
Inviting experienced international experts to work at UTT not only helps to strengthen resources for teaching activities but also aims at knowledge transfer, enhancing the capacity of the staff, developing training programs, and building specialized research groups. Through this, the University is gradually expanding its network of international cooperation and improving its capacity to train high-quality human resources in service of the development of Vietnam's railway sector.
The working session serves as a basis for UTT and Prof. Lee Young Hoon to continue concretizing the plan, the priority tasks, the modes of coordination, and the professional outputs during the Professor's tenure at the University.
