Journal of Science and Transport Technology (JSTT) Upgraded to Q3 After One Year of Scopus Indexing
The Journal of Science and Transport Technology (JSTT – ISSN 2734-9950) of the University of Transport Technology (UTT) has reached another important milestone in its international academic integration journey by being ranked Q3 in the SCImago Journal Rank (SJR) system.
This achievement is particularly significant as JSTT was only officially indexed in Scopus at the beginning of 2025, just three years after its establishment. Moving from Q4 to Q3 within a single year not only reflects a clear improvement in the journal’s academic standing within international databases, but also demonstrates that research published in JSTT is increasingly recognized by the global scientific community.

Journal of Science and Transport Technology (ISSN: 2734-9950) upgraded to Q3 in the SCImago system
For the University of Transport Technology, this is not merely a ranking advancement, but a meaningful academic milestone in affirming the University’s position, reputation, and capacity for international integration. In the context where the number of Vietnamese journals indexed in major global databases remains limited, the fact that a university journal in Vietnam was indexed in Scopus within just three years of establishment—and subsequently upgraded to Q3 after only one year—is a remarkable achievement. It reflects a well-directed, methodical, and persistent approach by UTT in building its research, education, and innovation ecosystem.
This milestone also represents a concrete realization of the spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, which identifies these areas as key drivers of national development. At the same time, JSTT’s progress aligns closely with Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training, emphasizing the need to improve higher education quality, develop intellectual resources, and promote research and international integration. From this perspective, JSTT’s development journey is not merely the story of a journal, but a clear demonstration of the breakthrough capacity of Vietnamese higher education when guided strategically, invested appropriately, and driven by a strong aspiration for global integration.

This achievement would not have been possible without the important direction, guidance, and support from the Ministry of Construction—the governing body of UTT—as well as institutional and policy support from the Ministry of Education and Training in enhancing research quality and international publications within higher education. It also reflects the strong political determination of the Party Committee and the University Board of Management, along with the dedication and responsibility of administrators, scientists, editorial board members, reviewers, authors, and the entire academic community of the University. This unity, commitment, and perseverance in raising academic standards have created the internal strength that enables JSTT to continuously advance.

From a newly established journal in 2021 to being indexed in Scopus after three years, and then upgraded to Q3 after just one year, JSTT is demonstrating a highly promising development model for Vietnamese university journals in the era of global integration.
Today’s achievement is a source of pride for the University of Transport Technology and also a strong inspiration for the domestic academic community: with the right vision, strong determination, systematic implementation, and continuous innovation, international standards are entirely attainable for Vietnamese higher education institutions.
The upgrade of JSTT to Q3 after one year in Scopus is therefore not only good news, but also a powerful message of academic capability, aspiration, and reputation of the University of Transport Technology on its journey toward regional and global recognition.
