UTT High-Speed Railway Talent Programme Students Visit Vietnam Railway Exhibition 2026 (VRT & CON 2026)

On 9 October 2026, students from the K76 and K77 High-Speed Railway Talent Programme at the University of Transport Technology (UTT) visited the Vietnam Railway and Railway Industry Exhibition 2026 (VRT & CON 2026). Accompanying the students were Professor Young Hoon Lee from Korea National University of Transportation (KNUT) and lecturers from UTT's High-Speed Railway Centre.

At the exhibition, students had the opportunity to explore advanced technologies, equipment and solutions in the railway sector, particularly high-speed rail, while gaining insights into emerging technological trends and practical applications in transport. They also attended a seminar entitled “Vietnam Railway Human Resource Development Plan”, featuring presentations on workforce demands, education and training strategies, the development of highly qualified railway professionals, and the specialised knowledge and skills required as Vietnam's railway industry undergoes modernisation. The event provided students with an opportunity to exchange ideas and learn from experts, managers and business representatives, helping them gain a clearer understanding of future career opportunities and the practical requirements of the railway workforce.

The exhibition visit was closely aligned with UTT's strategic direction in developing high-quality human resources for the railway sector. Under Decision No. 374/QD-TTg dated 19 February 2025, the Prime Minister assigned UTT to lead the Network of Centres of Excellence and Talent Development in Advanced and Intelligent Transport Technology and Infrastructure. The network connects universities, research institutes and enterprises, with high-speed railway and urban railway technologies identified as one of its key ecosystems. This provides a foundation for UTT to further integrate education and training with scientific research, innovation and practical business and production activities in the railway sector.

Notably, on 10 September 2026, in Paris, France, the Hanoi People's Committee, the French Development Agency (AFD) and UTT signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), agreeing on a plan to establish and develop the School of Railway Technology under UTT in Binh Minh Commune, Hanoi. This initiative aims to strengthen education, research and technology transfer capabilities to support the development of the capital's urban railway system as well as the national railway network. Together with the development of talent training programmes, this strategic direction reflects UTT's efforts to prepare engineers and specialists with in-depth knowledge, practical skills and the ability to adapt to modern railway technologies.

The exhibition visit was a practical activity designed to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications, enhance students' career awareness and inspire their enthusiasm for learning and research. The programme thereby contributed to realising UTT's strategic goal of developing high-quality human resources to meet the demands of Vietnam's railway development and modernisation in the new era.
