I. GENERAL INTRODUCTION
The undergraduate program in English Language is designed with an applied orientation, aiming to equip learners with a foundational system of knowledge in political theory, social sciences, a second foreign language, information technology, as well as the core and specialized knowledge of the English language. The program helps students master pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, culture and civilization, translation theory and methods, as well as skills in language analysis and processing, enabling them to apply these flexibly in multilingual and multicultural communication contexts.
In addition, students are trained in a systematic set of professional practice skills, including: proficiency in the four English skills at a minimum level 5 according to the Vietnamese Language Competency Framework; translation and interpretation skills; reading comprehension, analysis, and text production skills; communication, presentation, teamwork, and negotiation skills; as well as the ability to apply information technology in a modern working environment. The program also fosters professional demeanor, work ethics, a sense of responsibility, independent thinking, creativity, and self-learning capacity in the context of digital transformation and international integration.
Upon graduation, learners can assume positions such as translators or interpreters at government agencies, international organizations, private enterprises, media, tourism, and trade companies; teach English or translation and interpretation at educational institutions (if meeting regulatory requirements); work as communication, external relations, or diplomatic reception specialists; serve as administrative or office staff in units with foreign elements; or engage in research on language, culture, and international relations. Graduates also have the ability to pursue master’s or doctoral studies both domestically and abroad.
II. CURRICULUM STRUCTURE AND STUDY PLAN
The total volume of the entire program is 131 credits, not including Physical Education (04 credits) and National Defense and Security Education (09 credits).
