UTT partners with KORAIL to promote training, research, and transfer of modern railway technology

On April 1, the University of Transport Technology (UTT) and the Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to mark an important step in establishing bilateral cooperation relations, aimed at training high-quality human resources and applying advanced technologies to serve Vietnam's railway industry. The signing ceremony was chaired by Associate Professor Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Long - Rector of the University.

Attending the signing ceremony, from the Korea Railroad Corporation side were Mr. HAN Moon-Hee, Chairman and General Director; Mr. Kim Won-Eung, Deputy General Director in charge of International Business; Mr. Kim Goon Soo, Vice President of the Infrastructure Headquarters; Mr. Hwang Jaisick, Director of International Cooperation, along with representatives from functional departments and divisions.

From the Vietnam Railway Transport Joint Stock Company (TRV) side were Ms. Trần Thị Huệ Chi - Chairwoman of the Board of Directors; Mr. Phạm Trần Phú - Board Member. From the University side, attendees included Dr. Nguyễn Mạnh Hùng - Vice Rector; representatives from the Department of Science, Technology & International Cooperation, Training Department, Faculty of Transport Economics, Faculty of Construction Engineering, Faculty of Information Technology, Institute of Mechanical Engineering, High-Speed Railway Center, along with interested lecturers.

In his speech at the event, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Long stated that the University of Transport Technology, under the Ministry of Construction, has 80 years of development history and extensive experience in training human resources for the traditional railway sector. However, electrified and high-speed railways represent a new direction with modern technological requirements, necessitating the acquisition of experience from developed countries.

According to the content of the Memorandum of Understanding, the two sides aim to implement cooperation in fields such as training, research, and technology transfer. Specifically, UTT and KORAIL will coordinate to develop in-depth training programs on advanced railway technology, suitable for the trend of smart transportation infrastructure development. The two sides also commit to organizing professional seminars, academic exchange programs, expert sharing, and experience exchanges to enhance the capabilities of lecturers, staff, and students.
