UTT Welcomes and Works with the International Division of the French National Railway Group and the French Development Agency

On the afternoon of May 6, 2026, the University of Transport Technology (UTT) welcomed and held a working session with a delegation from the International Division of the French National Railway Group (SNCFI) and the French Development Agency (AFD). The program was an important activity aimed at strengthening connections and international cooperation in railway education and human resource development, especially as Vietnam is accelerating the implementation of major transportation infrastructure projects, including urban railways and high-speed railways.

Attending the working session were Mr. Diego Diaz – President of the International Division of the French National Railway Group; Mr. Fabrice Morenon – Chief Executive Officer of SNCF Hubs & Connexions under the French National Railway Group; along with urban development experts and transportation specialists from the French Development Agency in Vietnam. On behalf of UTT, participants included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Long – Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Ngoc Khiem – Standing Vice Rector; Dr. Tran Thanh An – Vice Rector; and representatives of the University’s units.

During the meeting, the partners shared valuable experiences. Mr. Diego Diaz, President of the International Division of the French National Railway Group, introduced the model and successful implementation results of railway human resource training projects that SNCFI had carried out in Morocco. He also emphasized that the current period presents a particularly favorable opportunity to promote investment and development in railway education in Vietnam.

In addition, the French Development Agency (AFD) in Vietnam updated participants on the latest progress in the preparation and implementation of cooperation projects with UTT, while acknowledging and highly appreciating the quality of the documentation provided by the University.

On behalf of UTT, the University reaffirmed its orientation toward becoming a center for training, applied research, and technology transfer in the railway sector, while expressing its desire to further strengthen cooperation with French partners in building a training – research – technology transfer ecosystem based on close collaboration among universities, the government, and enterprises.

The working session took place in an open and constructive atmosphere and marked an important step forward in promoting international cooperation, contributing to the development of high-quality human resources serving Vietnam’s strategy for developing a modern and sustainable railway system.

The French National Railway Group (SNCF) is a state-owned enterprise responsible for operating the French railway network and is the world’s second-largest railway group by revenue. SNCF has accompanied many countries in the development of high-speed railway systems, including South Korea, Morocco, and Taiwan.
