UTT students made their mark at the National Mechanics Olympiad in the Northern region
On the morning of May 11, 2025, the closing ceremony and award presentation of the 35th National Mechanics Olympiad, Northern Region, took place at Vietnam Maritime University. Participating in this prestigious academic competition, students from the University of Transport Technology (UTT) left a strong impression by winning multiple individual awards in specialized subjects.
With the participation of thousands of candidates from many universities and academies nationwide, the exam was held simultaneously in the three regions of the North - Central - South, including 8 subjects in basic and specialized subjects such as: Engineering Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Structural Mechanics, Hydraulics, Soil Mechanics, Machine Principles, Machine Parts and Applied Informatics in Machine Parts.
This year, the UTT student team entered the competition with strong determination, rigorous preparation, and systematic study methods. Accompanied by the dedicated support of the lecturers and the relentless efforts of each team member, they brought many proud achievements for the University. According to evaluations from the expert panels, UTT students demonstrated clear logical thinking, analytical skills, and the ability to effectively apply specialized knowledge to solve practical engineering problems.

In Engineering Mechanics, under the supervision of Lecturer Nguyễn Thị Huệ, students Trần Minh Đức (class 74DCOT24 – Automotive Engineering) and Nguyễn Tuấn Thành (class 74DCOT26 – Automotive Engineering) won Third Prize, while Nguyễn Trọng Phước (class 74DCCO21 – Mechatronic Engineering) received a Consolation Prize.
In Strength of Materials, guided by Lecturer Bùi Tiến Tú, student Nguyễn Sỹ Nguyên (class 72DCOT24 – Automotive Engineering) won Third Prize, and Trần Đức Phương (class 74DCCM21 – Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering) received a Consolation Prize.
For Soil Mechanics, students Đào Hồng Hạnh (class 73DCDD22), Chu Ngọc Lâm (class 73DCCD21 – Bridge and Road Construction Engineering), and Nguyễn Trọng Dương (class 74DCXQ21 – Construction Engineering) all won Third Prize. In addition, students Trần Thị Thu Hường (class 73DCDD21) and Phan Trọng Hiếu (class 73DCDD22 – Construction Engineering) were awarded Consolation Prizes. Under the professional guidance of Dr. Nguyễn Thị Bích Hạnh, Dr. Cao Văn Đoàn, and M.Sc. Lê Văn Hiệp, the students demonstrated strong academic capabilities and applied knowledge flexibly in their exams.

The achievements at this year’s competition not only reflect the individual students’ excellence but also demonstrate the University of Transport Technology’s proper educational orientation in developing students’ academic thinking and competencies. The close collaboration between faculty and students, along with a serious and creative learning environment, has enabled students to maximize their potential. This also lays the foundation for the University to continue identifying and nurturing students with specialized talents, preparing them to participate in major academic competitions in the future.
