UTT Honors Three Globally Influential Scientists in 2025

On October 10, 2025, within the framework of the Launching Ceremony of the Network of Centers of Excellence and Talent Development in Advanced and Intelligent Transportation Technology and Infrastructure, the University of Transport Technology (UTT) held a ceremony to honor its scientists listed in the 2025 Elsevier & Stanford Global Database. This event aimed to recognize and celebrate the significant contributions of UTT’s intellectual community to the academic advancement of the University and the transportation–construction sector.

The ceremony was attended by leaders of ministries and central government agencies; leaders of the Party Committees of universities and colleges in Hanoi; representatives from universities, research institutes, and enterprises; members of the Party Executive Committee, the University Council, the Board of Presidents; leaders of units; and all staff and employees.

According to the annual Elsevier & Stanford scientific ranking, UTT proudly has three scientists featured in the list of the world’s top 10,000 and 100,000 most influential researchers in 2025. This achievement places UTT among the Top 10 educational and research institutions in Vietnam with the highest number of scientists recognized throughout their academic careers. This outstanding accomplishment affirms the University’s growing academic standing on the global scientific map and reflects its strategic vision of positioning scientific research and innovation as core pillars of sustainable development.

The three honored scientists include:

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thai Binh, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Science and Technology in Transport (JSTT), one of nine Vietnamese scientists ranked among the world's top 10,000 most influential researchers.
  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Van Quan, Deputy Director of the Institute for Training and International Cooperation and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of JSTT.
  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ly Hai Bang, Director of the BIM & AI Center, Institute of Transport Technology — both recognized within the world’s top 100,000 most influential scientists.

In the solemn atmosphere of the ceremony, and in the presence of leaders from various ministries, sectors, lecturers, and students, Deputy Minister of Construction Pham Minh Ha presented the Honorary Cups to the scientists. The University also awarded VND 300 million to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thai Binh and VND 200 million to each of the remaining two scientists. These awards reflect deep appreciation for their valuable contributions and remarkable academic achievements that have advanced scientific research and innovation at UTT and within Vietnam’s construction sector.

These exceptional results come at a time when UTT continues to receive strong support and trust from regulatory bodies, particularly the Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Education and Training. To facilitate the University’s execution of its strategic missions, the Ministry of Construction has assigned UTT to prepare investment proposals for several major projects, such as a 15-storey Innovation Building, an Expert Building, a 9-storey Dormitory, and an Intelligent Transportation Research Center, with a total estimated investment exceeding VND 1,000 billion. This demonstrates the Ministry’s trust, strategic vision, and recognition of UTT as a core institution for high-quality human resource development, scientific research, and innovation in the construction sector.

Currently, the University is expediting preparations for the completion of the 11-storey multipurpose building and the 3-storey Expert Building, expected to be inaugurated in time for the 80th Anniversary of the University (15/11/1945 – 15/11/2025). These facilities will provide modern spaces for working, researching, and academic exchange, contributing to enhanced training and research quality while attracting domestic and international experts and scientists to long-term collaboration with UTT.
