Strengthening Cooperation with Universities of the Russian Federation, Opening Up Numerous Study and Research Opportunities for UTT Faculty and Students

On the morning of December 18, 2025, the University of Transport Technology (UTT) hosted a working session with a delegation from universities of the Russian Federation to discuss and promote cooperation in education and training, scientific research, and international collaboration. Welcoming the delegation on behalf of UTT were Assoc. Prof., Dr. Ngô Thị Thanh Hương – Vice Chairwoman of the University Council and Head of the Office of Science, Technology and International Cooperation; Dr. Lê Chí Luận – Head of the Faculty of Information Technology; Dr. Đỗ Xuân Thu – Deputy Head of the Faculty of Information Technology; together with representatives of functional units, experts, and scientists who had previously studied and worked in the Russian Federation.

From the Russian universities, the delegation included: Ms. Korobkova Anna Vadimovna – Officer of the International Cooperation Office, Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI); Mr. Malakhov Pavel Evgenievich – Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Department, and Ms. Iunusova Elmira Maratovna – Senior Specialist of the International Cooperation Department, Russian University of Transport (RUT/MIIT); and Assoc. Prof. Weber Julia Jurievna – Associate Professor at the International Nuclear Education and Science Center and Career Support Center for International Students, Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU).

Speaking at the meeting, Assoc. Prof., Dr. Ngô Thị Thanh Hương emphasized the long-standing and sustainable cooperative relationship between Viet Nam and the Russian Federation in the field of education and training. She reaffirmed that UTT always attaches great importance to expanding its international cooperation network, particularly with prestigious Russian educational and research institutions in UTT’s key areas of strength such as transport engineering, civil engineering, information technology, engineering, and high technologies. UTT expressed its desire that through this working session, both sides would enhance student and faculty exchanges, implement joint training programs, and further promote cooperation in scientific research and technology transfer.

Representatives of the visiting delegation also introduced the potential and outstanding strengths of Russian universities in education and scientific research, noting that the institutions share many similarities in training programs and development orientations. The Russian universities expressed their wish to strengthen connectivity and expand cooperation with the University of Transport Technology in the coming period.

During the working session, both sides held in-depth discussions on key areas of cooperation, including undergraduate and postgraduate joint training programs; student and faculty exchanges; co-organization of international scientific conferences and seminars; implementation of joint research projects; as well as support for students in accessing scholarships and study and research opportunities in the Russian Federation. These discussions were assessed as practical and aligned with the development strategies and internationalization orientations of each institution, opening up promising prospects for long-term cooperation and serving as a basis for moving toward the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) in the near future.

Immediately following the working session, the delegation from Russian universities engaged in direct exchanges with UTT faculty members and students, sharing information on study, research, scholarship opportunities, and career prospects in the Russian Federation. This activity attracted strong interest from a large number of students, providing practical information, supporting international study orientation, and fostering the spirit of cooperation and integration within the UTT academic community.

 

Accordingly, faculty members and students of the University of Transport Technology may participate in study and research programs at Russian universities across many key fields such as transportation engineering (railways, roads, inland waterways), aviation and aerospace, high-tech engineering and technologies, construction, information technology, economics, and transport management. Participation formats are diverse, including joint training programs (2+2, 3+1), short-term academic exchanges, postgraduate study and research, as well as programs delivered in Russian or English. Notably, learners also have opportunities to access scholarships provided by the Government of the Russian Federation and partner universities, supporting tuition fees, research activities, and living expenses, thereby creating favorable conditions for professional development, expanding international experience, and enhancing integration capacity in advanced educational environments.
