UTT Ranked 26th in VNUR 2026, Rising 18 Places Compared to 2025

According to the Vietnam’s University Rankings (VNUR), following the receipt and comprehensive review of supplementary data provided by the University of Transport Technology (UTT), VNUR has officially confirmed that UTT is ranked 26th in the VNUR 2026 rankings. Compared to 2025, UTT has advanced 18 positions, reflecting a significant improvement in institutional standing and quality within Vietnam’s higher education system.

In the 2026 ranking cycle, 237 higher education institutions nationwide were reviewed by VNUR through a rigorous process of data processing and analysis drawing on multiple authoritative and reliable sources. These data sources include annual reports, three-public-disclosure reports, admissions schemes, and major international rankings such as QS, THE, and ARWU; accreditation outcomes from the Ministry of Education and Training; QS Stars and UPM datasets; scientific publications indexed in Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus during the 2020–2024 period; information on science and technology missions and patents from the Ministry of Science and Technology; data on reputable academic journals recognized by the State Council for Professorship; licensed electronic academic databases; and other credible reference sources.

Based on data completeness, 193 higher education institutions were officially included in the VNUR 2026 rankings. The evaluation was conducted in accordance with the VNUR-2026 Standards and Criteria Framework, comprising 6 standards and 18 criteria, comprehensively reflecting the three core missions of higher education institutions: education, scientific research, and community service.

Previously, the University of Transport Technology had continuously demonstrated strong performance across reputable national and international rankings. In 2025, UTT was ranked 44th among the Top 100 universities in Vietnam, and placed in the Top 5 engineering-focused institutions according to VNUR 2025. The University was also ranked 37th in Vietnam in the SCImago Institutions Rankings 2025 for research and innovation, and achieved 35th place in the Webometrics Ranking 2024, highlighting marked improvements in digital capacity and academic visibility.

The 2026 ranking results underscore the positive transformations of the University of Transport Technology in enhancing training quality, strengthening scientific research, fostering innovation, expanding international publications, and progressively refining its university governance model towards greater modernity, transparency, and effectiveness. In recent years, both the volume and quality of the University’s scientific publications have grown steadily, accompanied by increasing academic impact.

Notably, in 2025, three UTT scientists were listed among the Top 10,000 and Top 100,000 most influential scientists worldwide, according to rankings released by Stanford University and Elsevier, placing UTT among the Top 10 higher education and research institutions in Vietnam with the highest number of internationally recognized scientists. Furthermore, the University’s Journal of Science and Transport Technology (JSTT) was indexed in the Scopus database after only three years of establishment, contributing significantly to reinforcing the University’s academic standing and scholarly reputation.

VNUR also acknowledged UTT’s serious, proactive, and responsible collaboration throughout the data submission and verification process, thereby ensuring the objectivity, accuracy, and transparency of the ranking outcomes.
