Scientific Seminar: Assessing Concrete Quality Using Advanced Non-Destructive Testing Methods
On May 7, the University of Transport Technology (UTT), in collaboration with STS Scientific and Technical Equipment Co., Ltd., organized a scientific seminar on “Assessing Concrete Quality Using Advanced Non-Destructive Testing Methods.” The seminar aimed to connect scientists, managers, and industry professionals involved in the management, production, operation, and maintenance of concrete structures and infrastructure.
Representing STS Scientific and Technical Equipment Co., Ltd. were Mr. Phạm Hoàng Tùng – General Director; Mr. Nhữ Nguyễn Hồng Cương – Deputy General Director, along with experts from Switzerland.
On behalf of UTT, the seminar was attended by Dr. Ngô Thị Thanh Hương – Head of the Department of Science, Technology, and International Cooperation; Dr. Trần Ngọc Hưng – Head of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Director of the Institute of Transport Technology, along with a large number of faculty members and students from the Faculty of Civil Engineering.

Overview of the Program
The program was conducted in two sessions. In the first session, experts from STS Scientific and Technical Equipment Co., Ltd. shared and presented reports, including: “Building a Global Data Ecosystem for Concrete Quality Assessment,” “Traditional and Advanced Sensors for Concrete Inspection and Evaluation,” “Concrete Imaging Ecosystem and Case Study Examples.”
The second session featured live demonstrations of testing equipment, allowing attendees and guests to gain an up-close understanding of their applications in the inspection and evaluation of transportation and construction projects. Some of the demonstrated equipment included: Ultrasonic devices for testing reinforcement bars and measuring the thickness of protective concrete layers, Equipment for detecting defects and assessing concrete structures.
