Symposium “Joining Hands to Conserve Water Resources: Sustainable Steps for a Greener Future”
On the morning of June 17, 2025, the University of Transport Technology hosted a symposium themed “Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen & UTT Students: Joining Hands to Conserve Water Resources”. The event was organized by the Faculty of Applied Sciences in collaboration with Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen Co., Ltd. (SEVT) and attracted the attention and participation of a large number of faculty members, students, and enterprise experts.

The symposium is one of the key activities within a series of extracurricular programs aimed at promoting comprehensive education, connecting theoretical knowledge with practical experience. It also contributes to raising students’ awareness and sense of responsibility toward urgent societal issues, particularly the protection of water resources in the context of increasingly complex climate change and environmental pollution.

In his opening speech, Dr. Trần Quốc Tuấn – Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences – emphasized the pivotal role of young generations in pioneering action, seeking technological solutions, and contributing to the green transition in harmony with nature and aligned with global trends.

He further noted that the symposium provides an opportunity for the University to strengthen cooperation with enterprises, especially major corporations such as Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen, in training, research, and sustainable development initiatives. The collaboration demonstrates the shared social responsibility of both parties in working together for the environment and the community.
Mr. Bùi Ngọc Sơn – Head of the Environment Department at SEVT – presented the company’s strategies, policies, and efforts in environmental protection, sustainable development, and corporate social responsibility. He also expressed a desire to deepen cooperation with educational institutions, including the University of Transport Technology, to help develop high-quality human resources for the environmental sector—an increasingly critical field in the context of globalization and green development.

During the program, SEVT representatives delivered in-depth presentations providing practical insights into the role of enterprises in environmental protection and sustainable growth. They highlighted the company’s production strategies tied to social responsibility and reaffirmed their commitment to protecting water resources—one of the most pressing environmental pillars today.
Along with introducing internal policies and water-optimization systems implemented at SEVT factories, the company also shared its participation in the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS), a globally recognized advanced water management model.

The presentation also opened opportunities for students majoring in Environmental Engineering Technology, as SEVT expressed strong demand for young professionals with expertise, technical skills, and innovative thinking. Through this practical engagement, students not only learned about green technologies but also gained clearer career orientation aligned with sustainable development trends.
A notable highlight of the symposium was the insightful presentation delivered by MSc. Research Fellow Nguyễn Thị Phương Dung – lecturer of the Faculty of Applied Sciences – on sustainable solutions in water treatment technology combined with biological resource recovery. This modern technological approach offers promising practical applications in resource management and contributes to the development of a circular economy model widely prioritized by many developed countries.

Beside that, students from the Environmental Engineering Technology program also confidently presented their creative ideas, proposing models and startup projects revolving around water protection. These innovative, practice-oriented ideas—combining specialized knowledge with a spirit of creativity received high praise from enterprise representatives. The symposium thus served not only as a bridge between students and employers but also as a foundation for future cooperation in research, training, and product development aligned with real-world needs.

The symposium concluded in an atmosphere of excitement, energy, and strong commitment. The message “Act Today – Sustain Tomorrow” was once again reinforced and widely spread—not only within the UTT student community but also to the broader public—helping to raise collective awareness about environmental protection and the preservation of natural resources for future generations.
