Seminar on prospects for developing technical skills in the automotive industry: Experiences from South Korea and Vietnam

On October 18, the University of Transport Technology, in collaboration with Hyundai Group of South Korea, organized the first seminar on the prospects for developing technical capacity in the automotive industry—Experiences in South Korea and Vietnam. The aim was to promote the development of the automotive industry in Vietnam by sharing experiences and learning from South Korea, one of the leading countries in the global automotive sector.

Attending the program were numerous industry experts from Hyundai Group, along with representatives from various departments and management levels of the company.

From the university, Dr. Nguyễn Mạnh Hùng, the Vice Rector; Dr. Nguyễn Văn Lâm, also Vice Rector; and representatives from the Department of Science and International Cooperation, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and the Mechanical Technology Center participated, along with experts, scientists in automotive engineering, and interested students.

In his speech at the program, Dr. Nguyễn Mạnh Hùng, Vice Rector of the university, stated that the automotive engineering industry is currently a key economic sector of the nation. In the context of globalization, the demand for human resources and advancements in automotive technology are increasing. Recognizing this trend, the University of Transport Technology trains a large number of automotive engineers each year to meet the country's workforce needs.

It is known that Hyundai Group of South Korea is a long-established organization that has achieved significant success in the automotive manufacturing sector. This collaboration will provide valuable experiences and strategies for developing the automotive industry in Vietnam in general and at UTT in particular, enabling the university to devise plans for training and developing this sector.

At the seminar, a representative from Hyundai Group shared notable features and strengths of the company in the automotive manufacturing sector, affirming its brand on the international market.

Dr. Tạ Tuấn Hưng, a lecturer from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Transport Technology, presented an overview of the training programs, including Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Technology, and Intelligent Transportation. He discussed the training orientation, curriculum content, duration, and practical internship modules for students, as well as the involvement of businesses in the internship process and graduation project evaluations. He also highlighted the employment prospects and capabilities of graduates.

During the event, Dr. Nguyễn Quang Anh, Head of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, chaired the discussion. Attendees engaged in lively exchanges on various topics, including the general characteristics of transportation in Vietnam, the strengths of South Korea in the automotive manufacturing sector, green transportation, and future development directions aimed at reducing air pollution. They also explored opportunities for international collaboration and investment in the automotive industry. This dynamic dialogue highlighted the importance of leveraging international expertise and innovative strategies to enhance the growth of Vietnam's automotive sector.
