Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyễn Danh Huy Pays a Working Visit to the University of Transport Technology
On 22 January 2026, the University of Transport Technology (UTT) had the honor of welcoming Nguyễn Danh Huy, Deputy Minister of Construction, together with a delegation from the Ministry of Construction, for a working visit to the University. Receiving the delegation were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vũ Ngọc Khiêm – Secretary of the Party Committee, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Long – Rector of the University, along with members of the Board of Management and representatives of the University’s units.
The working session took place in the context that the University of Transport Technology is implementing key tasks assigned under Decision No. 374/QĐ-TTg of the Prime Minister, whereby the University was selected as one of 13 Centers of Excellence and Talent in the field of Transport Technology and Advanced, Smart Infrastructure. At the same time, the University continues to implement the Project on training and development of railway human resources of Viet Nam up to 2035, with a vision to 2045, in accordance with Decision No. 2230/QĐ-TTg of the Prime Minister and relevant directives of the Ministry of Construction

Speaking at the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Long – Rector of the University, on behalf of the University, expressed sincere appreciation to Deputy Minister Nguyễn Danh Huy for his attention and for taking the time to work with the University and listen to its proposals. The President affirmed that, as a technical higher education institution in the fields of transport and construction, the University of Transport Technology consistently aligns its development with sectoral orientations and national strategies, with training closely linked to practice and societal needs as a guiding principle. The University hopes to continue receiving guidance and support from the Ministry, while strengthening cooperation with regulatory agencies and enterprises in mobilizing investment resources, commissioning training programs, and supporting research and technology transfer.

The University is currently organizing three full-time undergraduate programs in high-speed railway engineering with around 80 students, one honors class in high-speed railway engineering with 24 students, three master’s programs in railway construction with 58 graduate students, second-degree programs in railway construction with over 200 students, along with approximately 130 students in Locomotive and Rolling Stock Engineering and 150 students in Transport Operation. The University has 72 railway lecturers holding the ranks and degrees of Associate Professor, Doctor and Master, and has established the High-Speed Railway Center and the Institute of Railway and Urban Transport.
Since 2016, the University has implemented one national-level research project, eight ministerial-level projects, and contributed to the development of seven Vietnamese Standards; compiled and issued nine applied standards in railway electrification and traction. In fulfilling assignments from the Ministry of Construction, the University completed the translation of 55 European standards in June 2025, and 37 technical standards for high-speed railways in October 2025. In addition, the University has proactively proposed ODA projects with partners from China, the Republic of Korea and France to support training, research and technology transfer in urban railways, high-speed railways and electrified railways, in accordance with Decision No. 2321/QĐ-BXD.
The University has signed and implemented cooperation agreements with numerous prestigious domestic and international partners in the railway sector, notably the Vietnam Railways Corporation, the Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL), and the Korea National University of Transportation (KNUT)—under the witness of General Secretary Tô Lâm and Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Kim Min Seok—as well as leading Chinese institutions such as Tongji University, Southeast University, Nanjing Tech University, Nanjing Railway Institute of Vocational Technology, and the Singapore Institute of Technology, among others.

During the working session, participants exchanged views and discussed orientations for cooperation and implementation solutions in the coming period, affirming the commitment and readiness of regulatory agencies and enterprises to accompany the University in investing resources, enhancing training quality, and promoting research and the application of science and technology closely linked to practice.
Concluding the session, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyễn Danh Huy acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements of the University of Transport Technology, affirming its important role in training high-quality human resources for the sector and society. The Deputy Minister emphasized that the next two decades will be a critical development period for the railway sector; therefore, the University should fully leverage its internal strengths and align its development vision with sectoral strategies, particularly in railway infrastructure. He suggested that the University focus on developing key and specialized laboratories, such as simulation systems and material testing facilities, to strengthen practice-oriented training; continue to improve institutional regulations, compile and update specialized textbooks, and accelerate digital transformation to further enhance training quality.
