In morning December the 12th, The university of Transport technology, in collaboration with Japan International Cooperation Agency, conducted a seminar on “Strengthening training capacity to meet present demands of expressway construction technology in Vietnam” in Hanoi.

Attending the seminar, from  the Ministry of Transport were Dr. Tran Bao Ngoc, Vice General Director of the Personnel & Organization Department, representatives of Departments including Science and Technology, Finance, Planning and Investment, International Cooperation Departments; From Japan International Cooperation Agency was Mr. Akira Shimizu – Senior Representative; and invited guests from Departments of Transport, Research Institutes, Universities, and Colleges inside and outside the Transport Industry, JICA experts working in UTT, representatives of Vietnam and Japanese construction companies; From University of Transport Technology were Dr. Do Ngoc Vien – the Rector, Dr. Vu Ngoc Khiem - the Vice-rector, Mr. Tran Quan Dung – the Vice-rector; managers of departments, lecturers of Civil Engineering Faculty and project counterparts.

At the seminar, JICA experts, members of Project management Units and counterparts from Civil Engineering Faculty of University of Transport Technology briefly introduced about JICA project; training program on Road and Bridge construction technology; the improvement results of subjects and the teaching materials; the results of enhancing lecturers’ capacity; the utilization of equipments in practical training, scientific researches and cooperation with construction enterprises; the results of baseline survey and model lectures.

Mr Akira Shimizu – Senior Representative from JICA Vietnam delivered speech at the Seminar

The participants contributed many ideas for the University of Transport Technology to continue improving its content and training program associated with present demands; effectively utilization of laboratory equipments; cooperation with research institutes, universities, enterprises in scientific research and technological transfer, etc.  As a part of the seminar, the participants visited an exhibition on the first phrase results of the project and visit the Expressway Construction Laboratory funded by the Japanese Government with testing equipments of modern and advanced technologies.
