University of Transport Technology Welcomes Six Newly Appointed Associate Professors in 2025

On November 19, 2025, the Chairman of the State Council for Professorship Titles signed the Decision recognizing candidates who have met the criteria for the academic titles of Professor and Associate Professor in 2025. In this cycle, the University of Transport Technology (UTT) is honored to have six lecturers recognized as Associate Professors in the fields of Mechanical Engineering, Transport Engineering, Economics, and Civil Engineering. This marks an important milestone affirming the academic expertise and research accomplishments of UTT’s faculty.

With outstanding achievements in research, teaching, and professional contributions, the six newly appointed Associate Professors include:
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tạ Tuấn Hưng (Mechanical Engineering);
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngô Thị Thanh Hương (Transport Engineering);
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Thị Thu Ngà (Transport Engineering);
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hồ Sĩ Lành (Civil Engineering);
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thùy Dương (Economics); and
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trần Thế Tuân (Economics).

All of the newly appointed Associate Professors have extensive professional experience, numerous scientific publications, and significant contributions to teaching and research activities at UTT.

In the field of Transport Engineering, Dr. Ngô Thị Thanh Hương was recognized as Associate Professor in Geotechnical Engineering. She completed her PhD at the Military Technical Academy and has nearly 25 years of service at UTT. She currently serves as Vice Chair of the University Council and Head of the Department of Science, Technology & International Cooperation. Her research focuses on foundation engineering, geotechnics, and ground improvement solutions in transport infrastructure construction. She has also participated in several major international cooperation programs, contributing to UTT’s research capacity and global integration.

Also in Transport Engineering, Dr. Nguyễn Thị Thu Ngà was recognized as Associate Professor in Materials Engineering. She completed her Bachelor's, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees at the University of Transport and Communications and has served at UTT since 2014. As a lecturer in the Department of Urban Planning and Transport, Faculty of Civil Engineering, her research focuses on transport materials, sustainable materials, and urban transport infrastructure. She has published numerous scientific works and contributed significantly to training and developing advanced material solutions for modern transport construction.

In the field of Civil Engineering, Dr. Hồ Sĩ Lành was recognized as Associate Professor in Construction Engineering. He earned his PhD from Hiroshima University (Japan), has been working at UTT since 2011, and currently serves as Deputy Head of the Department of Geotechnical and Metro Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering. His research involves foundations, geotechnics, underground engineering, and soil–rock mechanics, making key contributions to training and applied research in modern infrastructure development.

Dr. Tạ Tuấn Hưng was recognized as Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in Automotive Engineering. He completed all three levels of his higher education (Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD) at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. Since joining UTT in 2011, he has served as Deputy Head of the Automotive Engineering Division, Institute of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering. His research interests include vehicle dynamics, transmission and control systems, structural design and optimization, and advanced automotive technologies. He has participated in numerous scientific projects, published in reputable journals, and contributed significantly to training high-quality engineers for the automotive industry.

In the field of Economics, Dr. Phan Thùy Dương was recognized as Associate Professor in Finance and Banking. She received her PhD from the Banking Academy, has worked at UTT since 2011, and currently serves as Chief Secretary of the Journal of Science and Transport Technology. Her research focuses on corporate finance, financial markets, risk management, and modern banking. She has authored multiple scientific publications and led several impactful research projects.

Dr. Trần Thế Tuân was recognized as Associate Professor in International Economics. He earned his PhD from the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and has been working at UTT since 2018. He currently serves as Deputy Head of the International Business Division, Faculty of Management. His teaching and research focus on international trade, investment, global value chains, digital transformation in business, and international economic integration. He has published numerous scientific papers and actively contributed to the development of academic programs within the faculty.

Over its 80-year history, the University of Transport Technology has consistently affirmed its leading position in training and research in the fields of transport and construction. The University currently has 45% of its lecturers holding doctoral degrees or higher; offers 5 doctoral programs, 15 master's programs, 60 undergraduate programs, along with talent programs and international joint programs. The Journal of Science and Transport Technology (JSTT) has been indexed in Scopus, and UTT has three lecturers listed among the world’s top 10,000 and 100,000 most influential scientists. These achievements reflect UTT’s strong commitment to sustainable academic development and international integration.

Looking toward 2045 – the University’s 100th anniversary – UTT aims to become a smart university and a leading center for education, research, technology transfer, and international cooperation in transport and key economic sectors. The appointment of six new Associate Professors in 2025 represents an important step in strengthening the University’s pool of high-level experts, enhancing training and research quality, and elevating UTT’s reputation within the national higher education system.
