UTT and GSTIKC Successfully Co-organize the China–Vietnam Sustainable Transport Training Program

From 01 to 03 June 2026, the University of Transport Technology (UTT), in collaboration with the Global Sustainable Transport Innovation and Knowledge Center (GSTIKC), organized the Sustainable Transport Training Course under the Global Sustainable Transport Cultural Exchange/Knowledge Sharing Project (GSTCEP) with the theme "Expanding International Perspectives and Building China–Vietnam Sustainable Transport Capacity."

The program was a meaningful international cooperation activity, contributing to strengthening academic exchanges, sharing experiences, and promoting collaboration in the field of sustainable transport between Vietnam and China.

Bringing together experts, policymakers, and lecturers in the transport sector

The program welcomed 45 participants, including leaders of units, administrators, lecturers, and specialists from the University of Transport Technology, as well as representatives from reputable organizations in the sector such as the Vietnam Railway Authority, Vietnam Road Administration, the Academy of Strategy and Construction Management Training, the Institute of Construction Economics, the Institute of Building Materials, and major project management boards.

Notably, the program brought together a distinguished group of experts, professors, and senior executives from leading Chinese universities, research institutes, and enterprises, including Mr. Jia Wenzheng – Director of the Transport Development Innovation Center under GSTIKC; Professor Wang Hainian – Dean of the School of Highway Engineering, Chang'an University; Mr. Guo Zizheng – Deputy Dean of the School of Transportation and Logistics, Southwest Jiaotong University; Mr. Zhao Huan – General Director of Tianjin Urban Rail Transit Industry Development Group; Ms. Qiu Yidan – Senior Director of the Yunnan Transport Science Research Institute; together with international experts from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

Sharing experiences in developing green, smart, and sustainable transport

Within the framework of the program, participants were introduced to a wide range of in-depth topics related to global sustainable transport development trends and China's practical experiences. The key topics included: theories and practices of sustainable transport development; technological advancement and education in highway engineering; theories and practices in the development of green expressways; smart railway transport development and digital transformation in transport operations and management; human-centered approaches to improving traffic safety; as well as investment and financing models for transport infrastructure and international cooperation in human resource development.

In addition to the academic sessions, the program also provided a platform for participants, experts, and policymakers to exchange practical experiences and discuss solutions for developing modern, environmentally friendly transport infrastructure that meets the requirements of digital transformation in the new context.

Promoting international cooperation in education and research on sustainable transport

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Dr. Tran Thanh An – Vice Rector of the University of Transport Technology, highly appreciated the close coordination between UTT and GSTIKC throughout the organization of the course and affirmed the practical value the program had brought to participants and stakeholders.

He emphasized that, during the three-day program, delegates had opportunities to exchange knowledge and experiences on many important topics, including sustainable transport development, green and smart transport, infrastructure investment and financing, traffic safety, and human resource development. These discussions provided valuable perspectives and experiences, contributing to the advancement of the transport sector in both Vietnam and China.

Vice Rector Tran Thanh An also noted that, beyond its academic value, the program contributed to enhancing mutual understanding, strengthening friendship, and building professional relationships among educational institutions, management agencies, and experts from the two countries.

He expressed confidence that the outcomes achieved through the program would serve as an important foundation for promoting broader cooperation in the future between UTT, GSTIKC, and international partners in the fields of education, research, and sustainable transport development.

Opening up numerous opportunities for future cooperation

The successful organization of the China–Vietnam Sustainable Transport Training Program further reaffirmed the role and position of the University of Transport Technology in international cooperation activities, high-quality human resource development, and the promotion of research and knowledge transfer in the field of transportation.

Through the program, participants not only gained updates on global trends, technologies, and advanced development models but also expanded their professional networks, laying the groundwork for future cooperation in research, education, and sustainable transport human resource development.

With its positive outcomes, the program is expected to contribute to strengthening cooperation among educational institutions, research organizations, and management agencies of Vietnam and China, aiming toward the development of modern, smart, and sustainable transport systems in the region.
