Career Orientation for Students in Logistics and Supply Chain Management

With the aim of providing career orientation for students majoring in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, on 20 December 2025, the Division of Logistics under the Faculty of Transport Economics – University of Transport Technology (UTT) successfully organized a seminar themed “Career Orientation for Students in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.”

In the context of global economic integration, the Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LSCM) sector has increasingly asserted its position as one of the key industries, playing a vital role in the sustainable development of Viet Nam’s economy. Recognizing this importance, the seminar was organized as a bridge to help students gain deeper insights into career pathways and the essential skills required to confidently enter a dynamic and opportunity-rich labor market.

The program was honored by the participation of experienced industry managers who shared practical, multi-dimensional perspectives from the business sector, including: Mr. Ngô Văn Hùng – Deputy Head of the Transport Department, Gemadept Logistics One Member Co., Ltd. (Northern Branch); Ms. Hà Diệu Mỹ Linh – Head of Human Resources and Administration Department, Bac Giang International Logistics Center; and Ms. Nguyễn Thị Bích Phương – Head of Business Department, VIT Logistics Complex.

Representing the University, the seminar was attended by Dr. Hoàng Văn Lâm – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Transport Economics; Dr. Nguyễn Thị Thu Hường – Deputy Head, in charge of the Division of Logistics; M.Sc., PhD Candidate Nguyễn Thị Dung – Deputy Head of the Division of Logistics; Dr. Trương Thị Mỹ Thanh – Head of the Division of Urban Planning and Transportation; along with lecturers of the Division of Logistics and a large number of students interested in the field of Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

Delivering the opening remarks, Dr. Hoàng Văn Lâm – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Transport Economics shared a heartfelt message on the importance of early career orientation for students: “Logistics is not merely about transporting goods; it is the lifeblood of the economy. In the digital era, students majoring in Logistics and Supply Chain Management at the University of Transport Technology must not only master professional knowledge but also equip themselves with flexible thinking, adaptability to digital technologies, and a strong passion for the profession. The University always strives to open doors connecting students with enterprises, and it is you who will decide how far you go on this career path.”

Building on this spirit, the core discussions of the seminar focused on analyzing the strategic position of the Logistics and Supply Chain Management sector in Viet Nam’s economy. Experts unanimously agreed that instead of viewing logistics solely through the lens of traditional transportation, it should be recognized as an integrated, multimodal management system—a key link in optimizing value and enhancing national competitiveness on the international stage.

At the same time, the role of the younger generation was placed at the center of the discussion. Today’s logistics students are not only the future workforce but also the core drivers who will apply digital technologies to innovate and modernize Viet Nam’s supply chains.

During the discussion session, the speakers directly addressed students’ concerns through candid sharing of professional experiences and real-world practices. They emphasized that beyond specialized knowledge, foreign language proficiency and IT skills, a positive attitude and problem-solving abilities are crucial factors enabling students to stand out in the eyes of employers.

The atmosphere of the seminar became even more vibrant with welcoming cultural performances and interactive games, where students demonstrated their quick understanding of the discipline. Meaningful gifts from the Organizing Committee were presented as practical encouragement for students’ enthusiasm for learning.

The seminar concluded in a joyful and inspiring atmosphere, marked by a strong commitment to continued collaboration between the University and enterprises. This event was not only a career-orientation activity but also an important stepping stone empowering UTT logistics students to confidently pursue new heights, contributing to the advancement of Viet Nam’s Logistics and Supply Chain Management sector.
