The railway professional training course attracted a large number of participants

Delivering the opening remarks, Dr. Trần Thanh An – Vice Rector of the University of Transport Technology, stated that the implementation of this advanced railway professional training course themed “Passenger Service Procedures at Stations and Professional Communication Skills” marks an important milestone in the roadmap for implementing Decision No. 374/QĐ-TTg of the Prime Minister, assigning the University of Transport Technology as the leading institution of the center of excellence and talent in transport technology and advanced, intelligent infrastructure.

Dr. Trần Thanh An – Vice Rector of the University of Transport Technology delivering remarks at the opening ceremony

In the context of Vietnam accelerating major transport infrastructure projects, especially the North–South high-speed railway and urban railway networks, the demand for high-quality human resources has never been more urgent. In response, the University identifies a key mission to take the lead in preparing a workforce that is not only professionally competent but also proficient in technology and adaptable to working environments, with the skills necessary to effectively handle arising situations, thereby contributing to improving service quality in the sector. This course is not merely a short-term training program but a strong realization of the “triple-helix” cooperation model (University – Enterprise – Government).

From the Government side (the Ministry of Construction and the Vietnam Railway Authority), there is close alignment with national strategic orientations for infrastructure and digital technology development, requiring high-quality human resources and placing expectations on training institutions, including the University.

The University is committed to investing all necessary resources, from facilities to innovating learner-centered teaching methods. Notably, to encourage learning, the University has decided to waive 100% of tuition fees for students participating in this course.

From the enterprise side, Railway Transport Joint Stock Company and Hanoi Metro have assigned qualified officials and experts to participate in teaching and providing professional support. The presence of railway industry experts as instructors helps narrow the gap between classroom learning and real-world practice, enabling learners to “see real, learn real, and do real,” emphasized Dr. Trần Thanh An.

Mr. Dương Hồng Anh – Deputy Director General of the Vietnam Railway Authority speaking at the opening ceremony

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dương Hồng Anh – Deputy Director General of the Vietnam Railway Authority, highly appreciated the proactiveness of the University of Transport Technology in implementing this project. The University’s direct collaboration with transport operators such as Vietnam Railways and Hanoi Metro under the “triple-helix” model is a highly practical approach, aligning with the standards for job titles and professional competencies that the Authority aims to standardize.

Topics such as “Passenger Service Procedures” and “Professional Communication Skills” form the foundation for building a modern, civilized railway sector centered on customers.

Through this course, learners will become those who directly operate the modern railway system of the future. He expressed his expectation that trainees will be equipped with knowledge, skills, and the highest level of discipline of the railway sector. Each practical operation at stations—whether operating passenger service technologies or greeting, ticket checking, assisting, and guiding passengers—represents the national transport culture. The Vietnam Railway Authority will continue to provide favorable mechanisms and policies to ensure that learners, after completing the course, can access professional and sustainable working environments.

Mr. Mai Thế Mạnh – Deputy General Director of Railway Transport Joint Stock Company emphasizing the importance of systematic training for high-quality human resources

In an interview with Construction Magazine, Mr. Mai Thế Mạnh – Deputy General Director of Railway Transport Joint Stock Company, stated that the railway sector is facing major development opportunities with the strategy to modernize the national railway system and the vision of high-speed rail. Technology can be acquired and infrastructure can be built, but high-quality human resources must be systematically trained.

Currently, passengers’ expectations for railway transport services go beyond safety to include professional, friendly, and convenient service experiences. Through this course, the company commits to closely accompanying the University through specific activities:

Sharing practical experiences to guide learners on passenger reception and departure procedures, ticket control, and handling exceptional situations on-site.

Providing real-world access, with readiness to receive students for internships and practical experiences at stations, helping them become familiar with work pressure and the operational environment while still studying.

At the same time, the company will prioritize outstanding trainees who master communication skills and modern ticketing technologies in its upcoming recruitment plans.

Mr. Nguyễn Văn Ngọc – Deputy General Director of Hanoi Metro sharing practical experiences linking training with real operations

According to Mr. Nguyễn Văn Ngọc – Deputy General Director of Hanoi Metro, the course focuses on improving service quality at stations in association with communication skills and handling arising situations, following the principle of “training closely linked with real operations,” with key contents including:

Operation of technologies, guiding learners in using automatic fare collection (AFC) systems, ticket vending machines (TVM), as well as biometric identification and electronic authentication technologies applied at modern stations.

Sharing practical experiences through field-based learning sessions at stations on the Cát Linh – Hà Đông and Nhổn – Hanoi Station lines, where learners can observe comprehensive passenger service processes and smart station operations.

Regarding service culture, Hanoi Metro will transfer standards on communication skills, emotional management, and complaint handling procedures in line with international practices, enabling learners to confidently become future “Metro Ambassadors.”
